Sally and Jon Slee have farmed in this area for over 30 years.
We farm a 25 acre smallholding where we grow asparagus and soft fruits which are sold at the farm gate and farmers’ markets. A small orchard of cherries, plums, apples and pears is now in production and a small flock of sheep occupy the fields not used for horticulture. Our bed and breakfast and self - catering units complete the enterprise.
We encourage diversity of wild life and have installed nest boxes for a wide range of birds . Barn owls and little owls nest on the farm and the unusual
diversity of cropping has provided an excellent environment for a wide range of mammals ,birds and insects. Rain water is harvested from roofs and forms a small lake which is used for irrigation.
We have renovated the barn to provide us with a home and guest accommodation. We have used recycled materials wherever possible and tried to keep faith with the style of the original building. Creating a walled garden in the farmyard is our most recent project –and provides a place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine! Guests are welcome to enjoy the garden and the farm.
